Our first major learning curve as owners and managers came when we hired our first team. We wanted to create a work environment we hadn't found in other jobs, prioritizing compassion, understanding, safety, and growth. It turns out it takes more than just being nice to people to make a restaurant functional. Our team has shifted over the past year as members of the crew leave to follow their passions. One thing has been constant, though; that everyone we hire comes with creativity pouring out of them.
Our current team comes to work as artists, mothers, environmental scientists, musicians, potters, and educators — bringing their eye for beauty, their kindness, and their care for the world to every dinner and brunch service.
We, Luke & Heather, still have a lot to learn about leading, but we couldn't be more grateful for the team we have — past, present, and future — and are so glad to have them as a part of our community here in Palmer, Alaska.
